About Us
Our History and Our Mission
Minds Association of Penang (MAP) is a non-governmental organisation that was founded in 2016 by a group of educationists with a special education background. We began with 5 trainees and have 30 trainees registered to date.
Our goal is to provide education and employment opportunities to persons with disabilities.
Our Programme
Operation hours:
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
In the morning, we offer education coaching, and in the afternoon, we offer pre-vocational and vocational training. OKU youths who have completed high school will join us as full-time trainees, while integrated secondary school OKU students will join us in the second half.
The trainees receive academic, life skills, self-management, and vocational training in a sheltered workshop setting. Those who are ready to enter the open job market will be connected with companies that want to hire them. We have a number of successful cases that have successfully transitioned to the job market.
Internship Opportunities
We accept local and international students to do internships with us. So far, we have received three batches of Masters in Social Work students from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kerala India (2018-2022), Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore (2022), USM Penang (2023), and a student from College of Allied Educators Singapore (2023).
